An insect light trap is a monitoring and interception point, so its position matters as much as its specification. Before choosing PT-801 or PT-802, survey where flies enter, which light sources compete with the unit and how staff will inspect and replace the capture component.

Start with fly pressure and airflow
Record the fly type, time of day, door-opening pattern, nearby waste or drains and the direction of natural light. A unit mounted beside an open exterior door may attract insects toward the building rather than intercepting those already inside. Strong daylight or decorative lighting can also reduce the unit’s relative attraction.
PT-801 or PT-802?
PT-801 is the more substantial option for professional portfolios and higher-priority indoor areas where service access and presentation matter. PT-802 offers a compact format for smaller rooms, apartments, offices or entry-level retail programs. Neither model should be chosen from floor area alone; mounting height, obstruction, competing light and the intended inspection route all affect the decision.

Placement principles in food and customer areas
- Do not position the unit directly above exposed food, preparation surfaces or clean equipment.
- Avoid a direct sight line from outside where the light may draw insects toward the entrance.
- Keep the unit accessible for safe power isolation, cleaning and capture-board replacement.
- Use the monitoring count to support drain, waste, door and sanitation corrections.
Turn captures into management information
Record insect type, quantity trend, capture-board condition and changes in doors, windows, waste or cleaning. A sudden increase near one entrance may indicate a door-management issue; small dark flies may point toward drains or organic residues rather than exterior entry. Counting without identifying the likely source limits the value of the device.
OEM range planning
Distributors can present PT-801 and PT-802 as two use cases, not two nearly identical black cylinders. Packaging should explain intended room type, positioning, replacement components, electrical rating and servicing. CNPestech can support custom colour, logo, manual, label and carton programs subject to order requirements.
